NO RECITAL/PERFORMANCE FOR SPRING 2024 CLASSES
Toddler, Preschool and School Age Classes Young students practice dance technique through creative movement activities and improvisation to develop confidence, social skills and studio etiquette. As students get older, they will develop poise and grace through warm-ups, barre work and choreography in ballet; explore rhythm, beat and pattern through combinations and across the floor in tap; and improve stamina, flexibility and strength with leaps, turns and tricks in jazz. Ballet/Lyrical
Students learn ballet terminology and technique through warm-ups, barre, across the floor, choreography and improvisation while utilizing dance as an expressive art form. Students develop confidence, coordination, balance, flexibility, stamina and muscle strength. Pre Pointe This class is by INVITATION ONLY: dancers will be notified if this class is appropriate for them. Two years of consecutive enrollment in Ballet/Lyrical at PTDA (not including Fall 2023), consistent attendance (3 or less absences each semester) and concurrent enrollment in Junior, Elite or Senior Ballet/Lyrical is required. Dancers should plan on wearing regular ballet shoes to class. Pointe shoes are granted on an individual basis determined by technique. Wearing pointe shoes before a dancer is ready can have detrimental effects on physical development, and enrolling in Pre Pointe does not guarantee if/when a dancer will get pointe shoes -- some are ready within 6 to 18 months while others in 2 to 3 + years. When a dancer is ready, Miss Breanna and the family will setup a time to be fitted at a local dancewear store for pointe shoes. Proper body alignment is incredibly important when working towards pointe shoes. Improper alignment can create poor ballet technique which puts dancers at a higher risk of injury. Because of this, dancers taking Pre Pointe must adhere to Prime Technique Dance Academy's dress code at all times (black leotard, pink tights, hair pulled back and optional fitted dance shorts or ballet skirt), so instructors can see alignment and make corrections to reduce the risk of injury and evaluate dancers progress to determine when Pointe shoes are appropriate. Due to this liability, dancers not adhering to dress code will be asked to observe class and take notes until they have proper attire. Tap
Students will love this energetic class and explore rhythm, beat and pattern through percussive footwork that exercises the thighs, calves, ankles and arches/balls of the feet. Jazz
Students learn leaps, turns and tricks while improving stamina, flexibility and strength. Warm-ups, across the floor and choreography will be combined with upbeat, age-appropriate music as students explore qualities of performance such as energy, spatial awareness and timing. |
